REAPER, MORRIGAN
REAPER, MORRIGAN
Name: Máire (Moira) Ailis O'Riley
Alias: Morrigan Reaper, Morgan Fay, The Ice Queen.
Nicknames: Morri
Age: Twenty-two years old.
Nationality: Irish
Gender: Female
Classification: Elemental Carrier
Partner: N/A
Children: N/A
Family: Dr. Dana O'Riley (mother), Dr. Cormac O'Riley (father), Niall O'Riley (older brother), Ronan O'Riley (older brother), Eithne O'Riley (younger sister).
Powers/Ability: Morrigan is an Elemental Carrier, with control over the element of water. She particularly specialises in the matter manipulation of water, having built her skill-set and fighting style around ice. She is incredibly proficient and comfortable with her powers, to the point of taking great pride in them, and practices frequently by working them into her daily life alongside routine self defence training.
Morri's powers typically revolve around hydromancy - the creation of water seemingly out of 'thin air' (when in actuality it is likely produced via a biological 'energy' created in Morri's body from the mutations caused by Project Phoenix.) and manipulation thereof - but she also has the ability to manipulate existing quantities of water. The maximum amount of water she has ever successfully manipulated at one time was roughly ninety gallons, and she can also potentially manipulate water within a person's body - though this requires significantly more concentration and energy, it can also prove to be extremely deadly. This power is particularly useful if the target is currently, or has recently drank anything.
In terms of offensive use, the ice can be formed into sharp spikes that can be propelled with great force, ranging from small with potential for precision, to more akin to a sword or spear. Morri very commonly uses her powers to create lances and spears when fighting, as well as thick ice shields and larger blocks of ice to block off her opponent - or even crush them, if timed correctly.
Aside from this, her powers can also be used to create restraints, traps, blockades, and can also be used for platforms and bridges, though this is rarely recommended for it's weight limit and slippery-ness.
Fighting Proficiency: Morri is well versed in self defence, and has developed a complex fighting style based around her powers. While she isn't particularly physically strong, she makes up for it in speed, reflexes and remarkable mental strength. She is tactical and intelligent, but can be blinded by anger and injustice, causing her to act irrationally.
She has killed in the past, and will do so again, believing it to be necessary to secure a safe and happy future for Carriers. Morri will kill adult humans - especially Hunters - with little remorse, but will not harm children unless completely unavoidable. She is extremely reluctant to harm other Carriers, and feels great grief when forced to do so.
In terms of weapons, she fights best with pole-arms, is proficient at a basic level with swords and has little to no knowledge about firearms. She struggles with unaided hand to hand combat, and mostly relies on being able to outlast and out-manoeuvre her opponent when magic is not an option.
Physical Description: The most noticeable thing about Morrigan right off the bat would probably be her style of dress. She wears almost exclusively black, as if constantly grieving for all of the Carrier lives lost to humans, favouring lace, silk, leather and velvet above all else. Her style can be compared to 'gothic lolita', though arguably more practical in certain areas, depending on what she plans to do that day.
Her style extends into her make-up, often seen with dramatic black eye make-up, her already pale face powdered a stark white, choosing to wear either matte black lipstick or ruby red. Morri's face is oval shaped, with high cheekbones, an angular jaw, a small, straight nose and thin lips with a defined cupid's bow. Her eyebrows are arched, but thin and sparse, an ashy auburn in colour, and her eyes are slightly droopy, and were a cold grey-blue once upon a time - before the onset of her powers at puberty lightened and brightened them to an icy cyan. They're fringed by long, naturally pale lashes, and have prominent dark circles when not covered in make-up. She also has a smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose, which are often covered with concealer.
Morri is small in stature, thin and petite, only standing at five foot one out of shoes. She has somewhat of a rectangular body shape, narrow hips and only slightly narrower shoulders, with a small bust and not all that much body fat. This is, admittedly, a point of insecurity for Morri, and will get very cagey and aggravated if it's even alluded to. She tends to wear platform heels to increase her height, and prefers covering dresses with voluminous skirts, the only exception to the rule being that she doesn't mind short skirts, as they're 'easier to move in'. Her body is littered with battle scars, the majority faded and small, save for a few nastier ones - such as a long, thin scar across her right hip, and a puncture wound scar at the bottom left of the front of her ribcage.
She tends to leave her hair down when at base, but always ties it up when leaving to lead crusades or give speeches in the city. Her natural hair colour is auburn, but Morri has dyed hers platinum blonde, leaving it slightly wavy and long enough to touch the bottoms of her shoulder blades when loose. It's cut into a straight, neat fringe that just brushes her eyebrows.
She is very rarely seen without her make-up, as her style has almost become a form of 'identity armour' for her, and she almost never feels comfortable with anyone seeing her without her 'war paint'.
Personality: Outwardly, Morrigan is a force to be reckoned with. She is headstrong, determined and has an iron will for what she considers to be 'right'. She is a confident and clear speaker, with a real talent for rousing public speeches and igniting a similar fire of justice in the hearts of other Carriers. She is fuelled by righteous anger, though combined with grief, outrage and pain, this has mutated into hatred against humans, for everything they've done to her kind. Due to this, she strongly believes that there cannot be a happy and peaceful future for Carriers if humans are still in it. Whether this means driving them out of the city, or exterminating them outright... she doesn't yet know. Either way, she will be at the front-lines of the fight until the day she dies.
On a more personal level, she can be brash, stubborn and almost too outspoken, and has little tolerance for a lack of respect - both towards herself and her peers. When calm, she will almost appear quite prim and proper - but when she loses her temper, which is often, it unleashes a torrent of unfiltered, unabashed Irish fury. Despite her confident facade and well put together public face, beneath the surface Morri is actually quite insecure, very aware of her flaws and short comings, and isn't unlikely to beat herself up for them on the inside. She's easily flustered, and her embarrassment - like most other emotions she doesn't know what to do with - tends to come out as generally harmless anger.
Beneath it all, she has a surprisingly big heart, and cares deeply for her cause and those that are close to her. She doesn't always now how to express it, but generally has undying loyalty to those close to her - unless they give her a damn good reason to rethink that.
Trivia:
- She chose her moniker after the Irish goddess Morrigan. The Morrígan ('phantom queen') or Mórrígan ('great queen') is mainly associated with war and fate, especially with foretelling doom and death in battle. She is believed to be a manifestation of the earth - and sovereignty-goddess, chiefly representing the goddess's role as guardian of the territory and its people, which Morri considered to be incredibly fitting and relevant to her cause.
- She has a noticeable Irish accent, which thickens considerably when she's angry.
- Her skin is permanently colder than the average person's, and her nail-beds have a pale lilac tint.
- She has a great interest in old fairy-tales, faeries and fey in general.
- She is the founder and leader of the Carrier Crusade, a group of rebels designed to protect other Carriers from oppressive humans and fight back against them.
- Her favourite animals are rabbits and crows.
- Her favourite colour - aside from black - is lavender.
- She is bisexual, but nervous about pursuing relationships, claiming to 'not have the time'.
- She was raised Catholic, but due to the path life has taken, she has a very complicated and difficult relationship with her faith. Morri considers herself more Agnostic than anything else.
