“We'll get married?” squeaked Finny, “Like...the wedding bells kind o' married?!”
Once the initial shock passed over, Finny took the time to study Peri's face, as if putting together the pieces of a puzzle. Blue eyes flitted to her pursed lips, to the flush over her cheeks, and stared back into her eyes. Gently, he tucked a lock of hair behind Peri's ear and smiled.
“That means we'd be together forever, until the stars grow cold,” he said softly, “I don't think I'd mind that. It'd give us plenty of time to dance.”

"Yeah! That way we'll at least have some company when we're old, and anyway, we'd get to dress up and have a fancy party... like this one, and there will be wedding cake, and..." She trailed off as Finny suddenly seemed come around to the idea, studying her face carefully, his gentle touch causing her to blush, gazing back at him in muted surprise.
Smiling softly back at him, faintly aware that her heart was now hammering inside her chest, finding that she really didn't mind the prospect of that either. They could waltz happily forever, just the two of them... "I don't think I'd mind that either... Just you and I and our adventures... That sounds like quite the life..." She spoke softly, suddenly immersed in the thoughts of what life would be like married to Finny. She would like that...
She really, really would.

“We should start planning now—just in case,” murmured Finny. A dash of mischief sparked in his eyes, hinting to his liking of the plan. Would he be able to spend the rest of his life with Peri if the time came and he stuck to his word? He imagined waking up to her face in the morning, the two of them standing under wedding bells, all the Christmases and Valentine's Days they'd share...
Maybe the champagne was making him bolder than normal, but Finny thought it'd be the perfect time to kiss Peri. Their lips were away by a few, painful millimeters when Finny snapped back to reality. He didn't move.
“It's a deal Peri,” he said, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Peri nodded, seeming almost philosophical about the matter, Peri drifted off into thought for a moment, dreaming about what her ideal wedding would be like. Not quite noticing how close their lips were, she began to map out the ceremony in her head, thinking back to the department store for inspiration.
"It would have to be a summer wedding... y'know, nice and warm and sunny... maybe even outdoors... nah, in a church, traditional and all... And then afterwards we'd get an orchestra, and we'd dance until the sun set..." She smiled, closing her eyes to visualize it a little better, finding herself so unbelievably happy at the thought of she and Phineas waltzing together, her in a white gown with a flowing train, him in a crisp, smart suit, with friends and family watching in joy for the young couple.
This was beginning to seem a little too real... But it still wasn't stopping Peri's mind from running away with her. Opening her eyes to gaze into Finny's, she smiled, the wonderful train of thought making her wonder if perhaps getting married to Phineas really was the right thing to do... Maybe he was her Mr. Right after all...
Or maybe she was just drunk and dreaming.

Dreaming alongside her was Phineas, imagining lavish parties and impressive orchestras of their own. “We have the location, the music, the people...but ya forgot the best part Peri,” he murmured, “The kiss.” As if a preview for what was to come in a few years, he brushed his lips against Peri's.
If he closed his eyes, he could imagine it was real. He saw her standing in a beautiful white dress, wearing a ring who's counterpart would be his, and knowing that she'd be his for forever and ever...
“Would I get to call you Mrs. McGowan? Or would you keep yer last name?” he asked, a grin on his face, “Or would I somehow wind up with yer last name?”

For a few long, beautiful moments, she returned the brief, gentle kiss, she too imagining that they stood before the alter, hand in hand, as he was told to 'kiss the bride'. Then it hit her that they were not at a church, she was in a red ball gown, not a wedding dress, and they were laying side by side on a lavish four poster bed in Veritgo Heights, drunk and daydreaming about a future that had come so out of the blue, and yet felt so perfectly right.
Exhaling softly as he drew away, she giggled a little at his next question, feeling almost giddy with an overwhelming rush of emotions, trying to focus on speaking as opposed to the loud voice in the back of her mind, singing in an ignorable, off-key fashion.
'HE JUST KISSED YOU, HE JUST KISSED YOU, HOLY SHIT, HE JUST KISSED YOU.'
"Peridot McGowan... Hmm, I like it, but then again... Phineas Hastings does have a certain ring to it as well. Hell, maybe I wear the trousers in this relationship?" Peri found herself closing her eyes once more, giggling again, words slipping from her mouth before she'd even had a chance to think.
"Huh... the kiss... I like that part..."

Their first, special kiss knocked Finny into a daydreaming daze. It took him longer than Peri to realize where he was, but when he did, he found that he couldn't care less. They could've been in an elegant church, the unforgiving streets, or where they were now...The kiss would've still been amazing. Anything Finny did with Peri was amazing in fact. Nothing seemed to stop her and no obstacle could ever prevent her from doing what she wanted. Like the sun, she made the planets revolve around her rather than the other way around.
Watching Peri laugh was contagious and he soon found himself giggling along with her. “Good luck tryin' ta squeeze me into a ballgown,” laughed Finny. He already knew how to avoid butterfly hair clips, ribbons, and skirts for “dress up”. Living with so many little sisters was almost like boot camp.
“So, ya liked that part? I...I liked that part too,” he said, This time when he brushed the hair away from Peri's face, he let the back of his hand rest against her cheek, gently tracing her flush. “An' if we do get married, Ms. Peridot Hastings, we get ta do that part every day. When I wake up ta yer face, when I go ta sleep, an' even in our dreams. I wouldn't have it any other way.”

Well, that image certain made her little wedding daydream a lot more... interesting. Suddenly she was wearing the tux, dressed to the nines with a white rose in her lapel, and Phineas was, well... in a wedding dress. Peri almost found herself nodding in surprise and slight respect at how well he pulled it off before she was snapped back to reality by Phineas' hand stroking gently over her cheek, all thoughts of wedding dress Phineas now gone from her mind.
"Y'know, Mr. Phineas... I think you've got yourself a deal. I can't say I can think of anyone I'd rather do that with..." She nodded lightly as if to confirm this, scooting a little closer to Phineas so that they fell back into that strange, yet heated closeness that they had experienced a few wonderful times already this evening, pausing for a moment as if studying every eyelash, pore, and change of hue in his eyes.
"I think we should practise the kiss part again... I mean, practise makes... perfect and all..."

As his eyes drooped with drunken drowsiness, Finny flashed Peri a content smile. In return, he scooted close enough to her that they were only a few centimeters from a loving embrace. Unlike most people that scrutinized him, having Peri examine him was more calming than unsettling. He busied himself by allowing his curious hands to run over her cheekbones, thinking to himself that in ten or twenty years, she'd be his.
“It's already perfect,” he said, “But I won't complain if ya want ta practice some more.”
Pulling her head closer to his, Finny teasingly kissed her again. It was gentle and faint, Finny venturing no farther than to lightly brush their lips together.

Peri found herself appropriately teased by the faintness of the kiss, yearning for more. The sweetness of it, as well as the alcohol coursing through her system and the hormones taking over her brain told her that she didn't just want more, she needed more, and that if she needed it, she would simply have to take it.
Gently moving one hand in a stroke over the side of his face so that her fingers ended up softly entwining through his hair, she pulled him a little closer, nothing for alarm, but enough to make the kiss stronger and more passionate, almost seeming to smile happily into it now.
She doubted a little, in the back of her mind, that this was where she'd stop, but it would do for now... Unless, perhaps, the drunken young man on the other end of her lips chose to do something bold, like she hoped.

Phineas' impassioned kisses traveled everywhere from Peri's neck to her nose when his lungs demanded air, forcing him to tear apart from her lips. The two were pulled even closer by Phineas, who now embraced Peri in his arms. “I love you,” he thought, “I love you. I love you. I love you.” Some of the words didn't stay entirely in his head however, and tumbled from his mouth and behind Peri's ears when he didn't notice.
Being Phineas, it was unlikely he'd give Peri what she really wanted. Despite his loving gestures and enthusiasm, he always made sure his hands stayed in appropriate places at all times and his kisses were the gentlemanly kind, the sweet ones that rarely used any tongue. '
Who knew well intentions could change one into a tease?

Quite happily accepting Phineas' flurry of kisses, she wrapped her arms around him, fingers lightly stroking over his back, digging in a little as he kissed sensitive spots on her neck, faintly aware of his murmurs as his lips brushed against her ear, not quite putting two and two together of what the mumbled words meant.
It was only as he pulled away for air that her mind actually began to work, the gears turning and translating Phineas' words into plain English that Peridot could clearly understand. 'I love you.'
He was saying that he loved her.
Even after all of this, the words still crashed down on Peri like a ton of bricks, coming as rather the incredible shock. As he embraced her, she paused for a moment, before gently moving one hand to his chest and pushing herself back, just enough so that she could look him properly in the eyes, seeming a little more sober now, blushing lightly, eyes wide, seeking answers.
"Finny... did you mean that? What you said... that you..." She cleared her throat, trying to force the odd, foreign words out, leaving an odd taste in her mouth.
"...love me?" The last two words came out quietly, almost mumbled, seemingly drowned in embarrassment. at the odd words. She had to know. Even if it killed the mood, which she sincerely hoped it didn't, she just had to ask... She would explode with thoughts otherwise, being one to overthink things like this. She'd learnt over time that asking straight up was normally the best way to spare her poor mind.

For once, Phineas wasn't in the mood to talk. Why talk when he could just keep kissing Peri over and over, showing that he loved her rather than just saying it? Impatiently, he pulled her close again as though to continue where they left off. Very gently he pressed his lips right below Peri's ear, his next few words cascading down her neck.
“Course I do, Peri,” he said softly, “Yer the most beautiful, brightest girl I've ever met. I mean, we're getting' married in thirty years, aren't we? Why would I say yes if I didn't like ya?”
Keeping close to Peri, Phineas seemed to wait for the okay to continue. That's when a horrifying idea hit him.
“Don't ya feel the same way, lass?”

Shivering lightly again as he trailed down her neck - which, previously unbeknownst to Peri seemed to be a weak spot of hers - she tried to gather her scrambled thoughts into some sort of logic order, trying to muster a straight answer to Finny's fears.
She liked him, that was for certain. But... love? She wasn't sure. She didn't know how she could say she loved anyone, let alone a person she'd met only three days ago. But with every kiss, and every moment passing, it would be a lie if she said she wasn't falling for him, fast and surprisingly hard, at a pace she almost found frightening.
"I'm not sure." She replied honestly, figuring that it was the best policy. Running her fingers through his hair, to travel down over the nape of his neck and down his back, she thought long and hard for a few more moments, before tilting her head back so that she had access to his lips again. Moving in to kiss him, she stopped just short of his lips, a tiny devilish smile curving her own.
"I'm ninety-nine percent sure that I do, I think I need to experiment a little more first before declaring that particular discovery, however..." With this rather daring statement, she pressed her lips to his once more, this particular kiss a little less appropriate than the ones Finny had bestowed open her before, very gently using her lips to slightly open his own, running her tongue lightly along his bottom lip, hands beginning to roam, but not too far into the unknown and inappropriate just yet.

“What do I have ta do toa earn that extra one percent?” laughed Phineas, “Cause as far as these 'discoveries' go, I'm no rocket scientist.” There was no chance for Finny to elaborate however, because Peri had sealed his lips in a kiss.
“Hn?” he murmured. Finny was surprised by the sudden change in their kissing style, but soon discovered that he rather liked it and wouldn't object if Peri wanted to keep going. The same hands that'd warmed him on the freezing streets were trailing down his back, giving him the candle light type of feeling, one with a gentle and soft glow.
Did he love Peri? At this point, he honestly believed he did. Finny wasn't a very difficult man to win the heart of and to be honest, he loved everybody...But Peri, she was a different kind of love.
